Legacy Orthopaedics has been founded specifically with patient care and education in mind. Dr. Thomas D. Riley IV

Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine

Dr. Riley was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA where his love for sports and science led him to pursue a career in Orthopaedic Surgery. He began his education at Villanova University where he excelled academically while also playing for their collegiate ice hockey team. His strong desire for a career in science led him to obtain a masters degree through the Drexel University School of Medicine. Ultimately, he completed his medical education at Temple University School of Medicine after which his journey into the field of orthopaedics began. He was given the honor of obtaining an orthopaedic surgery residency position affiliated with the Marshall University School of Medicine. His interest in sports continued to grow as his training afforded him the opportunity to treat many high level athletes. He quickly excelled during his training and ultimately became the chief resident of the orthopaedic program. After completing his residency he obtained a fellowship position at the prestigious Miami Orthopaedic Institute of Sports Medicine. During fellowship he was given the unique opportunity to work as an assistant physician for many of the areas top sports teams including FIU, the Miami Heat and the Miami Dolphins. Due to his excellent experience working in the Miami area he has decided to make it his home and is excited to have the opportunity to provide his services to such an incredible and diverse city.


Dr. Riley is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgey and has completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine. He has a special interest in advanced minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle. He also has extensive experience in joint replacement of the shoulder, hip and knee as well as partial knee replacement. He has completed specialized training in robotic-assisted joint replacement as well and is one of the few orthopaedic surgeons in the area who performs shoulder resurfacing procedures. He also takes pride in developing skills and maintaining upto- date surgical techniques in treating injuries and conditions of the hand and wrist. Cell-based therapy such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Treatments are also an important part of his practice.
